Scenes from a house project.

Sign of life.

Yes, we are still alive.
Barely.

Two thoughts at the same time, in that little head of mine: Oh-my-goodness how much work we have left, so much chaos. And: What a beautiful, light, fresh and gorgeous house we are going to live in.

One week 'till moving day! No time to moan or groan!

*Happy Friday*

Breakdown!

It had to happen. My computer, my trusty old companion, the light of my life (ok, ok, I'll stop now) - has died. It collapsed this week, and not even my good friend the Computer Brain Surgeon could revive it. To top it off, the battery on my camera doesn't work either, so now I am truly out of touch with the world, haha! Good then, that I have my gaffa-taped, broken-but-still-alive iPhone, so I can post nonsense like this. Happy friday to all - we're expecting great company this weekend!

Weekend breakfasts & hardcore missions.

Ain't no better start to the day than with eggs from your own chickens!
Hope everyone's had a good weekend - we have! In a busy sort of way... Saturday evening was spent on a kamikaze mission to Ikea, to buy our new kitchen and bathroom furniture. This in itself is a pretty exhausting and stressful task (it's A LOT of stuff to buy), but for us Paynes it just wasn't a big enough challenge. To make it really crazy, we chose to do it just before closing time. I think we set a new world record, because we did it in 40 minutes!
I think I'm still a little traumatised by it.
Good then, to have real wholesome food onboard.

Like a punch in the stomach.

Sometimes, but not very often, I hear stuff that grabs me instantly, that go straight to my guts, and I fall in love. This girl was on a norwegian talk show last night, and suddenly there I was, with my jaw dropped open. There was a resonance there, of something I really can't point out, but I was simply mesmerized. (Here's the link to the TV show, but I think that only works for norwegian folks.)

Today...

...has been a good day for: Sitting on a chair in the sun; admiring our barn; lying around in the gravel; hunting (Boo seems to think so, anyway); giving our bedding a good airing; greeting our hard working man as he comes in for lunch. Amongst other things!
Oh spring, we really really love you. Please stay!

Woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown:

Haha, ok it's not THAT bad (yet!), but whoa these are truly crazy times. My poor & wonderful husband is working his cute %$&# off up at the house every evening, it all seems like one holy chaos and we wonder HOW ON EARTH we will finish enough so we can make the move in four weeks. Maybe we should check out caravan rental possibilities?
In the meantime, this album is on repeat here, it's so good.
(Ps: Old photo, I have obviously been on the verge before, too.)

Winter break.

Lordy lord, how good it was to have a week off! It has been filled with lovely mornings of card playing and time to faff about (as Mr. Payne would have put it), more work done on the house of course (crazy times!), a couple of café visits, a bit of work planning the semester onwards (such is the life of a teacher), and most importantly a big-girls-only trip to Oslo, to my friend and her sweet baby boy, for lunch and to the museum of natural history. It has indeed been a lovely week.

New treasure!

Puss knows how to relax in the newfound chair, bought for nothing at the local thrift store.
Ah, the joys of treasure hunting!
